Ryan Taitinger was born and primarily raised in the town of Claresholm, Alberta. He graduated from the University of Alberta with a B.A. (special) in Economics in 1977 and continued his studies at the University of Alberta to graduate with an LLB in Law in 1980.
Ryan articled with Norman Simons in Edmonton. After completion of articles in Edmonton, Ryan moved to Fort McMurray in 1981, to continue work at the Simons and Company Law Firm.
Ryan left Simons and Company in 1986 to join the Tom Walter Law Firm in Gibbons Alberta.
In 1990, Ryan relocated back to Fort McMurray and joined with fellow partner, Kim Wolff to create the Wolff Taitinger Law firm.
Ryan was awarded his Queen’s Counsel designation in 2003.
In 2013, Ryan became a partner of Cooper & Company.

Ryan also served as legal counsel for 2004 Arctic Winter Games held in Fort McMurray and taught business law at Keyano College for 5 semesters in the 1980’s.
